Orange County
Orange County, California is a thriving metropolitan area bustling with
more than three million residents, making it the state’s second most
populous county and the fifth largest county in the nation. Small- and
middle-market businesses flourish in Orange County. It is one of
California’s fastest developing regions, with one of the highest
employment rates in the nation, employing tens of thousands of workers
from surrounding Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego
counties.
Our Orange County attorneys understand the dynamic nature of Orange
County and the markets in which our clients do business. Our lawyers are
innovative, business-focused and pragmatic, and many are licensed to
practice law in more than one state, before state and federal courts,
the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the International Trade
Commission. We have active teams in a wide array of practice areas –
including intellectual property, corporate and securities, litigation,
land development and environmental law, tax, trusts and estates, and
wealth management.
Orange County is home to one of the most successful technology clusters
and economies in the country. With a thriving medical device industry,
the county has attracted a large and growing concentration of
semiconductor, biomedical, computer and electronics firms, making it the
center of Southern California’s “Tech Coast.” Our intellectual property
group – comprised of attorneys who are all registered to practice before
the United States Patent and Trademark office – has experience and
technical proficiency in a variety of fields, ranging from traditional
electrical engineering and computer technology to biotechnology and
medical devices. We are also active in the emerging field of
nanotechnology, working closely with our local academic institutions to
remain linked to the growing knowledge base on this subject.
Understanding the interdisciplinary nature of our clients’ business
needs, our corporate team works closely with our IP team to connect
start-ups and academic institutions with investment funds, promoting the
growth of businesses coast to coast. Our corporate attorneys are
experienced in the various areas of corporate, finance and securities
law, including mergers and acquisitions, the representation of start-ups
and seasoned companies (including numerous public companies), secured
transactions and energy and project finance matters.
In addition, as the county has grown, real estate developers are facing
increasingly complex compliance issues, and StayLaw’s Orange County office is
home to an experienced group of attorneys who focus on Americans with
Disabilities Act, Fair Housing Act and building and life safety code
defense litigation, and brownfield redevelopment.
At StayLaw, we take our civic duties to heart and value the opportunity to
make contributions to our local community. We have recently worked pro
bono to patent the inventions of two local elementary school students
with the hopes of keeping the spirit of creativity alive in our younger
generations. In addition, our attorneys have held leadership positions
throughout the community. Our attorneys include the former chair of the
Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies Committee of the State Bar
of California, the chair of the Restoration Advisory Board for the
Redevelopment of MCAS El Toro, and a 2008 member of the Settlement
Officer Panel of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of
California. We are also involved in a number of organizations such as
Habitat for Humanity, Equality California, Public Law Center of Orange
County, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Orange County. |
