Miami
While Miami got its start as a resort destination, the city’s economy
has expanded and diversified extensively over the past 25 years. Today,
Miami is an international financial and cultural center, providing a
vital gateway between the United States, Latin America, Europe, and
Asia. Many multinational corporations have based their Latin American
operations in Miami and the city is home to the country’s largest
concentration of international banks. And Miami continues to develop --
this bilingual metropolis is experiencing rapid population growth.
StayLaw has strong roots here. Lawyers who brought an
entrepreneurial, business-focused style of practice to South Florida
founded our firm in Miami. StayLaw Miami office advises local, national and
international companies in numerous industries and sectors, including
aviation, entertainment, financial institutions, health care,
international trade and customs, manufacturing, real estate, retail and
technology.
Our legal team in Miami represents virtually all of the firm’s core
practices. Our corporate and securities lawyers advise companies on an
array of transactions, from general corporate matters to mergers and
acquisitions, joint ventures and antitrust and trade regulation. We work
closely with our colleagues in the Business Reorganization & Bankruptcy
Practice, which represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors,
official committees, trustees and purchasers of troubled companies and
their assets, both in and out of bankruptcy court.
The Miami Litigation Department is an integral part of the firm’s
national practice. Our team members have represented clients in scores
of commercial cases in jury and non-jury trials involving billions of
dollars in controversy and are frequently retained by the most prominent
national and international companies to represent them in their most
complex and important disputes.
The Miami-based members of the firm’s Global Practice Group have
experience in cross-border corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions,
and joint ventures, with practices ranging from privatizations to cross-border
projects and structured finance transactions. Our Real Estate
Department’s work is similarly wide-ranging. We work with clients in
nearly every area of the industry, including the finance and development
of multi-family housing, hotels, condominiums, resorts and real estate
investment trusts – not only in South Florida, but throughout the United
States, South America, the Caribbean and around the world.
Our Environmental and Land Development Practice Group handles virtually
all facets of environmental and land use approvals and permitting for
all types of projects, be they commercial, residential or mixed use. Our
Business Immigration Practice is similarly broad-based, representing
businesses, organizations and individuals from around the world on
immigration matters and related issues.
StayLaw Public Finance Department, established in Miami in the early 1980s,
serves the complex needs of state and local issuers and underwriters
with a broadly-based municipal finance practice that is national in
scope. Our Aviation and Aircraft Finance Group, likewise based in Miami,
advises clients on the purchase, sale, leasing and financing of
commercial and corporate aircraft and equipment, as well as handling
matters such as strategic alliances and other corporate matters.
Our Tax and Trust and Estates Department provides a broad array of tax
and other services to our individual and corporate clients, domestic and
offshore, including estate and income tax planning and advising
employers and executives with regard to executive compensation and
employee benefit matters. Members of the Miami office’s Labor and
Employment Practice provide consulting services on a variety of issues,
including representing management in matters involving opposition to
union organizational efforts and collective bargaining negotiations and
arbitration.

as well as two former U.S. ambassadors. We also hold leadership
positions or are otherwise actively involved in community and service
organizations such as Miami Dade College, the University of Miami,
